Wasn’t there a splash park proposed next to the library going ahead? Would be a cool spot for it but it would ruin the view and only please a minority I reckon at the Sugar Wharf.

Michelle Simone

So will this pool be as well as the splash pool? It's definitely the best location for a pool in PD. I still don't think there is a need for a splash park. The pool is the way forward for PD. Put that money set aside for the splash pool and use if for this pool proposal instead.

Terence Smith

This is such a great idea, another alternative for family activity and being in town it will bring increased business, bring it on please.

Jake Wyatt

The idea makes a splash every 6-8 months, so it’s due.

Kristine Moorcroft

Who’s paying for it ? There’s already been an increase in rates to pay for a splash park.

Simon David

Remember that Rex Smeal Park was once a pool. It was filled in. To me, that speaks volumes for this proposal.

Brad Cooper

Needs to happen locals tourist everyone would use this… Also best place for it but there will naysayers but I’d be surprised if there wasn’t an overwhelming majority wanting this for all to enjoy.

Lyn Buffington

What a great place to put a pool! A real asset for our visitors and locals. Please, please don't let this one be stopped by the minority baggers.

Jenny Atkins

I grew up in Port Douglas and still live in the Douglas Shire. My parents along with other parents and supporters at the time were instrumental in the construction of the failed pool at Rex Smeal Park. My memories are it was a relief from the heat for a couple of seasons. The new possible location along with much more know how and money some 60 odd years later should be considered and explored until this happens. Lets get this started!

Well it's a useless piece of land at the moment, so it'd be good to beautify it. But nothing seems to happen in this town. Why??? Life keeps moving forwards. It'd be nice if Port Douglas did to.

Very, very sad.

And with the sale, Douglas turns from a farming community with tourism, to a confused weed paddock.

Does this also include fixing the water plant issues that impacted on everyone in the shire after Jasper.

Still seems to be that the money needs to be spent on roads and water infrastructure rather than signage, more council staff, etc!?! This money needs to be spent where it's needed and the spending needs to be transparent!!!

$4.5 million for a couple of rain gauges and established signs ? After upcoming election.

David Haratsis

Where’s the energy? Don’t accept that amount, demand more! Internationally renowned destination, olympics coming soon to the state (and this area will no doubt be used as a selling tool) - bargain hard!
