There’s been widespread praise for the amazing work of local RoadTek and TMR officials following the re-opening of the Captain Cook Highway between Port Douglas and Cairns this morning.

A row of cars were viewed lining up along the Highway at both Craiglie and Palm Cove before it officially re-opened just after 8AM.

As motorists arrived at their destination, one thing was common – the amount of due praise heaped on those who performed back breaking and endless work over the past month to have the Highway back in drivable condition since its previous closure last December due to Jasper and the following extreme rainfall.

Most drivers reported the journey in both directions took between 30-60 minutes, with only a few sets of traffic lights to negotiate during the journey.

RoadTek and TMR – a huge thank you!
