The Daintree Village pub Jag the Joker jackpot has gone off.

A Daintree Village local has been filmed winning a $2800 jackpot prize, and her reaction is priceless.

After close to a year of build-up, Douglas Shire resident Colette claimed the popular Daintree Village Hotel’s Jag the Joker raffle competition last week.

Many locals and tourists have had their shot at picking the right joker playing card in the competition, but to no avail - until last Wednesday, when one lucky winner took the weekly jackpotting cash prize home.

With most of the original card deck already eliminated progressively in past months, it all came down to three cards, and it was Colette who chose the lucky card.

For close to a year the Daintree Village Hotel has attracted an ever-increasing crowd as the prize pool rose each week, with one lucky winner having the chance to win big every time.

While the anticipation built and the chances of winning became higher, Wednesday nights in the small Daintree Village came alive, welcoming locals from across the Shire.

But fear not, the next round of the Jag the Joker is starting tomorrow night (Wednesday, February 26), with a starting pool of $1000.
