Police have released vision of an ongoing search and rescue operation in Aurukun, after a 52-year-old man was reported missing late on Saturday evening, March 22.

Initial information indicates around 4pm on Saturday the man was hunting roughly 70kms north-east of Aurukun when the vehicle he was travelling in became bogged.

Shortly after, he became separated from the group.

The group conducted a search before returning to Aurukun and alerting police.

Police immediately launched an extensive search and rescue operation involving police officers, the local council, APN Cape York, community members and aerial assets.

The search is continuing today, anyone with relevant information is urged to contact police.
