New restaurant Babal is set to open next week on Macrossan Street.

The concept behind the venue is to work with local producers to bring a fresh twist to modern Australian breakfast and lunch dining.

Chefs Brendan Bayes and Danny McDermott, along with front-of-house host Sophie Palethorpe, are the brains behind Babal.

The trio are well known within the region's hospitality industry, and say they will use their decades of know-how to create an exceptional restaurant experience.

Head chef and co-owner McDermott says the team is excited to bring something new and fresh to Port Douglas.

“This town is home to some truly outstanding dining venues, and we hope Babal will add to the already incredible food scene here,” he says.

“Our goal is to contribute to the local industry, collaborate with producers, and create a space that complements the rich culinary landscape of Port Douglas.”

The team have been hard at work preparing Babal for its opening in less than a week's time, posting the journey on their Facebook page documenting each milestone.

Search up Babal Port Douglas on Facebook to find out the exact opening date.
