As a third-generation real estate professional Nicki Samson is continuing a long-standing family legacy at LJ Hooker Port Douglas. At just 25 years old, she’s following in the footsteps of her grandparents and parents while putting her own stamp on the industry.

Real estate is in Nicki Samson’s blood. Born and raised in the region, Nicki has an in-depth knowledge of the local market and a strong connection to the area, for her, real estate is about helping people find their place in the community.

“Real estate has always been a part of my life, and I hope to continue that legacy,” Nicki said.

She credits her mother, who has owned LJ Hooker Port Douglas for over 21 years, as her biggest inspiration.

“She’s an incredibly strong woman. She’s shown me how to lead with integrity and kindness,” Nicki said.

“One of the biggest lessons she’s taught me is to stay true to myself and treat people with respect.”

Nicki’s expertise extends across all aspects of real estate, from sales to property management.

With a Full Real Estate Agent Licence, one of the highest qualifications in the industry - and only one of few in the town - she provides guidance to landlords, buyers, vendors, and tenants alike.

A passion for people

Though she grew up around property deals and home sales, it wasn’t the houses that drew Nicki into the industry, it was the people.

“I absolutely love helping people. Meeting clients from all walks of life, building relationships, and seeing their dreams come true, that’s what makes this job so rewarding,” she said.

“The properties are beautiful, but at the end of the day, it’s all about the connections you make.”

Her passion for meeting people from all over the world comes naturally. Having lived in Europe, where she became fluent in French, Nicki developed a broader perspective and a deep appreciation for different cultures.

This global experience has only strengthened her ability to connect with a diverse range of clients, both locally and internationally.

Empowering women in real estate

While real estate has traditionally been male-dominated, Nicki appreciates the growing presence of women and the unique strengths they bring to the industry.

“When I attend industry conferences, it’s often a room full of men. But I think women bring something special to real estate, such as empathy, trust, and understanding,” she said.

“Buying or selling a home is one of the biggest transactions in someone’s life, and I believe women have a natural ability to make that process smoother.”

Nicki encourages young professionals to go after their goals with confidence.

“Just give it a shot! We have a lot of young women in our agency, and they thrive,” she said.

“Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do it. Women belong in this industry, and we bring so much to the table.”
