Wildlife Habitat in Port Douglas is getting ready to launch a new 24/7 live stream, giving people around the world a close-up view of one of its most iconic residents; Airlie the Cassowary.

The project is in partnership with Zoolife TV, a global platform that streams live footage from zoos and wildlife parks.

After being approached by Zoolife, the Habitat chose Airlie to be the star, and it’s easy to see why.

The camera has been set up in his favourite hangout spot, so he’s expected to be front and centre most of the time.

Wildlife Habitat assistant manager Sybella Salter said Airlie was chosen due to the unique nature of this endangered species and hopes the stream will raise awareness about their fight for survival.

“If Airlie’s introduction to Zoolife TV is successful, the plan is to look at other animals we can feature to offer more unique insights into wildlife behaviour,” she said.

“Zoolife has developed the technology to bring wildlife conservation into the future of online education and engagement.

“Our audience is full of passionate animal lovers who, before this, may not have had the chance to see or connect with species like the cassowary in such an immersive way.

With hundreds of animals from leading sanctuaries around the world already on the platform, Sybella says it’s “the future of wildlife education and conservation messaging.”

Once the stream goes live, viewers will be able to visit the Zoolife website to control the camera, zoom in on Airlie, and explore other animal enclosures from across the globe.

They can also chat live with animal experts and get real-time answers about what they’re watching.

The stream isn’t live just yet, but the launch is coming soon, and once it’s up, Airlie is set to become a global sensation.
