Newsport Print celebrates a year of bringing locally printed news to Douglas Shire for free every fortnight.

Fresh, colourful and full of news, community stories, business features, socials and sports results, Newsport Daily Print edition has hit the streets today, marking a year of Newsport putting a FREE printed paper in your hands come rain, hail or shine.

Not only does the print edition double down on Newsport’s Digital’s commitment to deliver to Douglas Shire the freshest news first, and free, it has shown over the past fortnight the strength of Doing it in Douglas.

Locally sourced and with a dedicated team combining a mix of seasoned journalists, local youth and dedicated client managers working with our Douglas Shire businesses, Newsport Daily Print is printed at Mossman Print.

It is even lovingly recycled with copies collected from cafes and outlets at delivery of each new edition and donated to Habitat Wildlife for bedding… expertly coordinated by Douglas Shire Council’s 2025 Australia Day Environment Award winner, our colleague, Monika Prins, who features in this edition.

The Do it in Douglas approach by Newsport has meant we can keep our community in the know, in the same kind of way the team at Scomazzon Farming, subjects of our fabulous front page article, have played a big role like many more local businesses in keeping supplies and spirits up across the Shire the past couple of weeks.

From the start of February, and managing a flow of information from emergency services, disaster management authorities, the weather bureau and transport and roads department heads, Newsport has delivered more than 50 articles to keep more than 50,000 website users informed with weather and road closure advice while delivering community, council, sports and hard news stories across each daily, with more than 80,000 page views.

We can do this, and get your paper on the shelves on time and for your enjoyment because we Do it in Douglas.
