Tourism Port Douglas Daintree will be welcoming in a fresh era after announcing a new chair with more than 40 years’ experience in the industry.

Rosie Douglas will start on Wednesday, March 5, taking the place of Cam Charlton, who held the position for four years.

Ms Douglas worked for Tourism Tropical North Queensland for more than a decade, including helping plan major events such as the Great Barrier Reef Masters Games.

She says she is excited to work with the current team to ensure continuity of the great work it does.

“In a small community like this it is important everyone works together,” she says.

“It’s vital to foster partnerships.

“It’s a very strong board, and the role of the director is to help guide the board and provide the guidance of the platform for the amazing tourism experiences we offer.”

Ms Douglas will bring with her a love for the reef and an interest in helping tourists access the Daintree Rainforest.

“Personally I have always loved being on the water but I think having both the rainforest and the reef so close, and so accessible, provides many opportunities for visitors.”

In coming months Ms Douglas will build further relationships with the TPDD board and discover further what our area has to offer.
