A new sculpture has sprung up on Captain Cook Highway, impressing many locals and travellers who use the popular route between Port Douglas and Cairns.

The artwork of a fisherman standing on a rock appeared late last week - you can’t miss it as you come around the bend from either way along the stretch in the Rex Lookout region.

Locals spoken to by Newsport were concerned Douglas Shire Council staff would pull the sculpture down as soon as they found out about it, so we have started a poll to work out if our readers would like the sculpture to stay.
