It has to be one of the most spectacular fingers of land anywhere in the world, the Port Douglas Peninsula defined by the stretch of white sand that is Four Mile Beach, the Marina and fabulous Flagstaff Hill at its point.

From high above and cruising in from the ocean which is the beacon for so many tourists who flock to Far North Queensland, Port in particular, to taste a piece of paradise, we are reminded of just how special our town and its surrounds are.

It can take a beating, such as that thrown at it by Cyclone Jasper, and bounce back to be just as beautiful as ever.

And while, like any coastal town, it is sure to change with the times, the pace of change in Port seems likely to keep it on par with the public who love it for these landmarks which define this special piece of Douglas Shire.

Newsport continues its Douglas by Drone series and invites keen fliers and photographers with video or pictures to send it, and your story, in to [email protected] and we will get in touch.
