Builders in the Douglas Shire can be hard to come by, making the arrival of Legacy Build Group, led by Jackson Brown, a welcome addition for those seeking not only quality homes but also a stress-free and seamless building experience.

A third-generation builder with over 15 years of experience, Jackson - better known as Joe - has come full circle in his journey, bringing his expertise and passion for craftsmanship back to where it all began.

He began his apprenticeship at just 15 years old, working under the guidance of his late father, Bruce "Bomber" Brown, and Nat Smith of Island Point Constructions. 

After honing his skills in Brisbane and Cairns, Joe has returned to Port Douglas with his wife, Mikaela Brown, and their young family to establish Legacy Build Group, a family-run business that prioritises client satisfaction, transparency, and local connections.

A focus on legacy and client relationships

Legacy Build Group specialises in new builds, renovations, and extensions, offering tailored solutions with exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. 

Joe ensures every project reflects his clients' unique vision while balancing quality, practicality, and longevity.

The name Legacy Build Group reflects this philosophy, with a focus on high-quality craftsmanship and a building experience designed to be as smooth and low-stress as possible for clients.

“For me, it’s about the legacy you leave with your clients,” he explained. “Building a house is more than just constructing walls and roofs; it’s about creating a positive, collaborative experience that clients remember fondly. I want them to feel supported and excited throughout the process.”

Modern transparency for a better client experience

Joe’s commitment to his clients extends to clear communication and a focus on modern building technologies. 

He plans to introduce project management software that will provide live updates, timelines, and daily progress photos, ensuring clients feel involved at every stage.

“It will be especially helpful for clients who aren’t nearby so that they’ll still feel like part of the process,” Joe explained.

“Transparency and communication are key to making the experience enjoyable and stress-free.”

Reviving local connections 

As a local, Joe - along with Mikaela, who grew up in Port Douglas - is passionate about supporting local trades and services, with a strong focus on hiring within the Douglas Shire.

“There are so many talented tradespeople in the area, and it’s important to keep that local network strong,” he said.
