Anzac Day services and our new RSL president make the front page news of the latest free edition of Newsport Daily Print.

We Will Remember Them. On Anzac Day Eve, Douglas Shire looks to the day of remembrance with renewed enthusiasm that generations to come will pay their respects, with a new local RSL President and more than $150,000 of upgrade work completed at the Mossman cenotaph.

Incoming RSL President John Grime takes centre stage of the latest edition of your FREE Newsport Print edition out on the streets today and we have all the information you need to get along to Anzac Day services tomorrow, Friday April 25.

Both the dawn service at Mossman and the march and proceedings at Anzac Park in Port Douglas offer great opportunities for the community to show their respect, while details of other services also are featured.

The call is loud also for Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina at Port Douglas to get a much needed makeover to redefine the region and put it back on the map, or up the scale, for the high-end tourism market.

While our fresh, first and free local news coverage hasn’t gone to the dogs - latest monthly readership figures this year at their highest level - there is a bit of wag in the tail in our print pages this week. A call for entries for the Port Douglas Carnivale Pooch Party, a petition for dogs to be allowed on leash in National Parks and Peaches the perfect pooch all get a run today.

Topping Peaches in the cuteness ranks is a baby koala for Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas’s Lulu, and we caught up with some kids over Easter and rolled into the Gran Fondo launch and Salsa Bar and Grill’s 30th Anniversary celebrations to cover the social scene.

Footy’s back and we have the latest news from the Croc’s camp and we are flipping out over the success of Mossman-raised judo star Nikita McDonald. Those stories and plenty of results in the Sport section.
