From golfing at the scenic Mossman Golf Club to enjoying the camaraderie at the local Men’s and She Sheds, there’s no shortage of ways to engage with the community and shake off that boredom. Here’s a rundown of some exciting options available right in your backyard.

Mossman Golf Club

Mossman golf club is in such lovely condition and such a great club to have a round of golf on. The greens manager, Matty Coulthard and the boys do an excellent job of maintaining a great course for players. If you haven’t had a game recently, come along and try your luck, the prices are very reasonable, and you don’t have to take a buggy, you can take a pleasant walk. Having a cold beer after the game always goes down well, with lovely friendly staff to serve you.

Soccer club

Mossman has a great soccer club, they have a kids program on a Tuesday afternoon and a ladies program Monday night, these are great opportunities for both you and the kids to get into a sport that’s a lot of fun, and good exercise.

Bowls Club

Bowls for beginners are held at The Mossman Club (Bowls Club), every Wednesday and Sunday 1pm start, names in by 12 noon, and first and third Thursday night at 5.30pm, names in before 5pm. These games are mixed, so you can bring your wife/husband/partner along for a lot of fun. For information contact the club.

Men’s and She Shed

There’s a Men’s shed and a she shed in Mossman at the neighbourhood centre, these are wonderful places to meet people and have a go at a project you’ve been thinking about. The Men’s shed is open from 9am till 12 noon Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, the she shed, Tuesday Wednesday and Friday. Come along, even if it’s just for a coffee and a chat, they’re all friendly and welcoming people. It’s also a good place to learn how to use different power tools, the men’s shed even has a lathe.

Fishing Club

There’s a fishing club at the Newell Beach boat ramp; Mossman Boat and Fishing Club - a family oriented club that meets once a month for a social, friendly weekend of fishing. The club promotes sustainable fishing practices and really strives to encourage kids to get out and enjoy this amazingly unique place we live. The club has monthly competitions that cater to river, reef, land-based, and catch and release anglers as well as end of year grand prizes.

If you are looking for a great place to mingle and meet like-minded people, on a Sunday weigh-in afternoon the club is the place to be, with cold drinks and an excellent BBQ. Not to mention, some great Lucky Door prizes, including some Mossman Meat House meat trays and prizes for the juniors. It's a great recreational club for all ages and abilities and the members often become great friends. Keep a watch out for the weigh-in signs ones a month

So don’t sit at home being bored, watching the telly!
