Prepare yourself for the perfect storm of entertainment options across the Douglas Shire as two big events hit the region this coming weekend.

There will be no bunkering down for music lovers when Savannah in the Round floods Mareeba with 40 Australian artists performing on four stages across three days of top entertainment and camping at Kerribee Park from Friday, October 11.

In Port Douglas, Hemmingway’s Brewery dusts off the steins and slips on the Lederhosen for the Far North Queensland style Troptoberfest on Saturday, October 12.

With German-style beers and festival food, keg lifting and stein sliding competitions, live music and entertainment and what promises to be a hotly contested Best Dressed comp, Troptoberfest looks certain to thrill.

At Savannah in the Round, there will be a little bit for everyone at this year’s main stage - recently renamed The Cape in an ode to Cape York - which is packed with performances across three days. All the way from the United States, Kip Moore and Tyler Hubbard will join world class Aussie acts like Sheppard, Lee Kernaghan, The Living End, Hoodoo Gurus, Jon Stevens, Hindley Street Country Club, James Johnston and Troy Cassar-Daley to light up The Cape.

Punters will be able to explore the rest of the massive lineup at the festival's other stages Big Top Music Hall, Bull Bar, and The Rolling Backyard Stage. And proper partiers never fear, as there’ll be late nights at the Big Top Music Hall with Dee Jaye Bux or live music in the Bull Bar until late to keep the fun going.

Savannah in the Round prides itself on the high level of local talent that they are able to platform each year, as can be seen on this year’s bill with names like Roadtrippers, Jeremy Fletcher, Brooke Schubert, Katie Richards Band, Blue Reed, and Pelicana all on the bill.

And, of course, Newsport is on hand to keep you up to date with all the event information and coverage, even presenting a special Savannah in the Round ticket where the shuttle bus to Mareeba Rodeo Ground and first drink is on us.
