A rising Douglas Shire athlete has showed his awesome endurance capabilities after finishing third at the recent Cross Country Peninsula Trials held in Yungaburra.

The result means Miallo State School year 5 student Declan Ives has now qualified for the state cross country championships with the Peninsula team on July 12-14.

Declan’s brother Regan Ives, a year 7 Mossman State High school student, placed 8th and will act as a shadow.
