A man in his 60s continues to recover after sustaining a snake bite in Port Douglas.

A QAS spokesperson told Newsport the man was taken to Mossman Hospital in a stable condition following the bite to his foot just after 6.30pm last night.

The Douglas Shire has averaged one or two reported snake bites the past few years.

A man in his 40s from Wangetti was taken to hospital on February 2 last year having received a snake bite.

A year prior in October 2022, a man in his 60s took a bite after disturbing a snake while in the process of accessing his medicine.
