Dear Editor,

I just wanted to say a huge congratulations and thank you to Paul Smyth from Douglas Shire Council for one of the best “Carnivales" I have been to over the years.

The icing on the cake is that everyone I have spoken to have just raved, therefore the “naysayers” can now take their negativity somewhere else and perhaps put their energy into support.

The street parade was amazing and the beach day was perfect with all the kites, sandcastle competition, tug of war and so many more attractions and fabulous food.

Wow to Paul Smyth for having the courage and foresight to bring the Queensland Symphony Orchestra to beautiful Port Douglas.

This was an epic coup. I can’t believe Paul and Council were able to pull this off. The atmosphere was stunning and what an incredible venue. I could hear the waves quietly lapping in time with the music.

Then there was Sunday, with yet, more fabulous events, suitable for all age groups and the continuation of a very successful weekend.

Not to mention the “Spigeltent” with so many special events held there as a special feature of Carnivale.

Paul your 18 hour days paid off and I am thrilled for you. Congratulations to you and congratulations to Council for the foresight.

I hope you can now have a bit of a rest. Once again thank you for a mighty effort.

Regards,

Vicki Kurth
