Today marks a new era for Newsport following the first edition of Newsport print which will complement Newsport online.

Published fortnightly the Newsport newspaper will be distributed every second Thursday in Mossman and other parts of the Douglas Shire.

We feel the time is right to create a new, small newspaper for the Douglas Shire that is completely locally made and comprised of Douglas Shire news.

“We’re really excited to create a free newspaper for our readership around the Douglas Shire,” Editor Michael Warren said.

“It’s a privilege to play such a vital role in continuing to inform, update, entertain and deliver Douglas Shire news already through Newsport online and this new product is another way to do this.

“To reaffirm, Newsport will continue as usual to bring you daily news in an online capacity through www.newsport.com.au, the newspaper is simply another platform to engage and deliver news to our loyal readers around the Douglas community.”

Newsport’s publisher Sam Cullen was equally delighted about the new development for the Shire.

Newsport in print will be packed full of stories completely devoted and focused on the happenings of the Douglas Shire,” Mr Cullen said.

“We look forward to the Douglas Shire and our loyal readers embracing Newsport print as much as they already regularly do with Newsport online.”
