After last year’s festive sparkle was dimmed by Cyclone Jasper, Raine & Horne Port Douglas/Mossman is determined to make the Douglas Shire shine brighter than ever. Relaunching their highly anticipated Christmas Lights Competition, they’re inviting residents and businesses to illuminate their homes and shopfronts.

With a promise to make this year’s event bigger and better than ever, the competition aims to reignite community spirit and bring the festive season to life in spectacular style.

Leading the charge is Jocelyn Schumacher, Co-owner of Raine & Horne Port Douglas/Mossman, who hopes to rekindle the festive traditions she fondly remembers from her UK childhood.

“It would be wonderful to see houses, and even entire streets, decorated, creating a magical atmosphere where families can tour the neighborhood and marvel at the displays and guests choosing to spend their Christmas holidays in our beautiful region will feel our Christmas spirit,” she shared.

Competition details

Locals are invited to participate by sending Raine & Horne a video showcasing their festive decorations, whether it’s a residential home or a shopfront.

Categories & Prizes

1. Best Christmas Light Display (Residential)

Prize: $500 for the most creative and vibrant home display.

2. Best Christmas Shopfront Display

Prize: Raine & Horne will purchase a $250 voucher from the winning Port Douglas or Mossman business, which will be gifted to a community member who participated by voting for their favorite shop display.
Note: If a business cannot provide a gift voucher, Raine & Horne will purchase a $250 Visa Gift Card for the winning voter to spend locally.

How to Enter

Send a video of your decorated house or shopfront to Raine & Horne via Facebook Messenger.
Include your name, contact number, email, and address in the message.
Raine & Horne will post each entry on their Facebook page, where winners will be determined by the highest number of Facebook likes.
