500 people in teams of two will leave Port Douglas tomorrow bound for their eventual destination of Adelaide.

The journey will take seven days and span almost 3000km and take participants right through the heart of Australia before they eventually arrive in South Australia.

Invariably, some of the starting bombs won’t be successful in making it the whole way to S.A.

Cars taking part in the event must be worth $1,500 or less, be roadworthy, registered (No 4WD) and teams needed to raise a minimum of $5,000 to participate.

Dress up themes provide amusement during the trip and the main reward besides making a massive contribution to cancer research is simply making it to camp and spending a night under the stars in rural and remote locations.

Breakdowns are guaranteed and this will challenge participants to work together in order to make the finish line after their adventure through the outback.

The fundraising goal for Sh*tbox Rally 2023 is $2M with teams almost hitting that target!

Box rallies is now the leading individual fundraiser for Cancer Council nationally generating over $40M to Cancer research.

A list of where the funds have been previously allocated in order to assist cancer research and prevention can be viewed on the Sh*tbox website.

Cars will start leaving Raider Park, Port Douglas sporting complex from 8.30am, Saturday morning.

Those interested are invited to farewell the participants, with coffee and breakfast to be available throughout the morning.

Start line: October 14, Port Douglas, QLD

Finish line: October 20, Adelaide, SA
