The Port Douglas Reef Raiders will unite for skipper Richard Johnston when they take on Southside Crusaders this weekend at the Port Douglas Sports Complex.

Richard, a valuable member of the Reef Raiders rugby team, was recently diagnosed with Chronic myeloid leukemia.

“Richard has been a huge part of our club since arriving from England in 2019,” Port Douglas Rugby Club President Travis Gooch told Newsport.

“A quality player on the field and a great bloke off it.”

The Rugby Club will have raffles and auctions throughout the day as well as the canteen, with all proceeds going to Richard.

The Port Douglas community has shown great support with numerous companies providing amazing prizes for the raffles and auction.

“We welcome everyone down to Raider Park on Saturday to cheer on the Reef Raiders and help raise funds to support Richard.”

The Reef Raiders vs Southside Crusaders game kicks off at 4pm with free entry for everyone.
