This weekend, the Port Douglas Reef Raiders will be testing themselves as they go up against the JCU Mariners, who currently hold the top spot in the Rainforestation Cup standings.

The highly anticipated game will take place at the Port Douglas Sports Complex.

According to Travis Cooch, Port Douglas Rugby Club President, The Mariners have been in great form this season, convincingly defeating every team they've played.

“The Raiders however will go into the game with some momentum having been undefeated in their past 4 games,” he said.

For the first time this season, the Raiders now sit inside the all important top 4 with 5 rounds remaining before finals.

Raising awareness for leukaemia

In a show of solidarity, both teams will be wearing orange socks during the game to raise awareness for leukaemia, a cause that is important to Raiders captain Richard Johnston.

The match will kick off at 4.00pm on Saturday at the Port Douglas Sports Complex.

According to Mr Cooch fans can expect an exciting clash between the Port Douglas Reef Raiders and the JCU Mariners, as both teams vie for victory.

Ladies day

Off the field, the Raiders will also be celebrating their annual ladies day, inviting all women to enjoy a fun-filled day of activities. It's a chance for the club to show its appreciation for the female fans and supporters.
