Soon locals will be able to enjoy their favourite fresh baked doughnuts on a daily basis at what will be a doughnut and pastry heaven.

Duke’s Doughnuts is opening a bakery at the old Junction Cafe site and plans to begin serving its popular handmade donuts in the first week of March.

The opening of the bakery comes exactly six years after Port Douglas locals Sally and Mike Miller started selling their handmade doughnuts on the Port Douglas markets.

Ms Miller told Newsport that they are very excited about this next step.

“On top of our handmade doughnuts, we will be offering a large array of pastries both sweet and savoury such as fresh bread, sandwiches, salads, breakfast items and Blackbird Coffee,” she said.

“To begin with, we will be looking at a grab and go location with minimal seating and down the track opening up our garden area with more dining options.”

The bakery will be called Duke's and the market stall will be rebranded as Duke's Little Sister.
