The wet season has well and truly hit the Douglas region, closing the Daintree Ferry, cutting off Daintree Village and flooding other roads, police again warning motorists not to drive in flooded areas.

The Daintree Ferry was closed early this morning, with flooding on both sides and a king tide combining to inundate the approach areas on both sides of the river.

Motorists are advised to keep monitoring the Ferry website for updates and any information on its re-opening. As of 10.30am today, the Ferry remained closed.

Barratt’s Creek bridge on the way into Daintree Village is completely underwater. Daintree Village received over 300mm of rain in 24 hours.
