‘Flannel for a Farmer’ calls on Queenslanders to roll up sleeves in support of Aussie agriculture

Sport a flanno, support a farmer; Calling for strong backing for Aussie farmers, Queenslanders are urged to button up and show solidarity with our nation's backbone.

Port Douglas IGA, a part of Cornetts Supermarkets in Queensland, is partnering with Drought Angels, a renowned non-profit aiding Australian farmers and rural communities through tough times.+

The ‘Flanno for a Farmer’ campaign seeks to extend a much-needed hand to Australian farmers and their families navigating the adversities of drought and other natural disasters.

By raising a few dollars and donning your finest flannel during a special event on August 25, people can show Aussie farmers that we’ve got their backs.

The initiative highlights that most farmers would readily share the shirt off their own backs to aid someone in need.

‘Flanno for a Farmer’ embodies this spirit – a way to let Australian farmers know that they're not alone.

Contributing to the cause

According to Graham Booysen, CEO at Cornetts Supermarkets, many rural stores have witnessed firsthand how these challenging times have affected communities, staff members and suppliers.

“From enduring prolonged droughts, devastating floods, and increasing pressures of interest rates, our customers are facing significant challenges,” he said.

The Flanno for a Farmer campaign encourages all Queensland residents to raise funds and create awareness, starting by signing up on the Flanno for a Farmer website and setting up a donation page. 

These donation pages provide an opportunity for individuals, families, and businesses to contribute to the cause.

The campaign will culminate on August 25, where a special day has been designated for everyone to show their support by wearing their flannelette shirts. 

"We firmly believe in supporting our farming communities, and this initiative provides a fantastic opportunity for our customers, staff, and local residents to join hands in making a positive impact,” Mr Booysen said.

“The Australian farming community plays a vital role in our country's well-being, and it is our responsibility to stand by them during tough times. 

“We urge everyone to get involved in the Flanno for a Farmer campaign and help make a difference in the lives of those who need it the most.”
