Local couple fills transportation gap with affordable shuttle service and community focus

Star Local Shuttle is shaking up the transportation scene in Port Douglas by positioning themselves as the most cost-effective option in town, while also offering an exciting promise of ‘free rides for waiting over 20 minutes’.

Filling the void in public transportation within the Douglas Shire, Port Douglas local Ravi Singh and his wife took it upon themselves to launch a shuttle service with a focus on hassle-free and punctual travel experiences.

With Star Local Shuttle they are determined to be the most budget-friendly shuttle service in Port Douglas, offering one-way trips at $6, return trips at $10, a 10 rides pass for $40 and 20 rides pass for $80. The best part? These passes don't have an expiration date.

A game changing policy

Drawing on his seven years of experience as a chauffeur and company manager in the Port Douglas shuttle service industry, Mr Singh has become a seasoned expert in the field.

To address guests' concerns about long wait times and missed pickups, he introduced a policy of free rides for anyone waiting over 20 minutes.

“This policy not only ensures better time management for the company but also prevents negative feedback from dissatisfied customers,” Mr Singh explained.

Additionally, Star Local Shuttle offers convenience and comfort with the biggest bus in the area, holding up to 25 guests at once.

From Punjab to Port Douglas

Originally from Punjab, India, Mr Singh didn't know anyone when he first moved to Port Douglas.

"I fell in love with the simplicity of this small town and the friendliness of the locals, that's why I decided to grow a family here," he said.

"I love meeting new people from different places, which is one of the reasons I chose this industry to start a company.”

With great team effort Mr Singh drives the bus and transfers guests, while his wife manages the backbone work for the company. And although they started as a small business with just the two of them, they have plans for future expansion.

Additional services

As an additional service, Star Local Shuttle also provides direct transport from Port Douglas to Mossman Gorge for $27.50 per person one way, with a reduced rate of $13.75 for children aged 3-12 and free for infants.

On top of this they also offer pick-up and drop-off at the bowls club in Mossman for the same price.

With their commitment to hassle-free and punctual travel experiences, Mr Singh and his team are sure to continue making a positive impact on the community.
