A WEBSITE created 18 years ago with a purpose and clear objective to showcase the Douglas Shire and that doubles as a real time major booking platform for the region continues to go from strength-to-strength.

The Port Douglas and Daintree online travel Planner formerly known as tourismportdouglas.com.au is a one stop shop for prospective holiday makers, tourists and weekenders to be able to book basically anything they need in advance prior to arriving in Douglas for that magical getaway or dream vacation.

Those interested can utilise the planner, created by the owners of this website and Port Douglas Magazine, Newsport, to book and confirm, among other things, real time accommodation, tour and restaurant bookings.

Holiday makers and prospective new arrivals to the region can also use the website to look at local employment options, wedding information, local beach cameras and further tourist information.

“Travel Planner is a real asset and makes researching the region a real travel experience in its own right,” Travel Planner spokesperson Aggy Renaudin enthused.

Travel Planner helps thousands of visitors fall in love with all the spectacular experiences, dining, wellness and accommodation options available in the region.

“The website’s live availability makes it popular in a time when so many aspects of one’s holiday is usually booked in advance.”

More than 45,000 unique users typically use the online Port Douglas Travel Planner per month. The website regularly ranks number one or two when users conduct a general Port Douglas search via google.

Travel Planner’s social media pages also help generate significant traffic to the website. The Travel Planner Instagram has 16,000 thousand followers, its Facebook page has 26,000 members, while a weekly travel email has 20,000 subscribers.

Ms Renaudin confirmed Travel Planner received on average, around 4,000 page views ‘per day’ with 23, 271 per month using a desktop computer, 19,472 from a mobile and 1,088 on a tablet device.

“For us, Travel Planner is another really helpful tool we’ve used to make the public aware of our business and what we offer,” Daintree Discovery Tours spokesperson Grant Knight explained.

“It’s proved another key avenue for us to use and a very reliable and trusted source.”

Ms Renaudin encouraged locals to also jump on and have a look at the travel planner.

“With so many of the town’s tours, restaurants and accommodation options booked out weeks or even months in advance referring visitors to the travel planner where it displays live availability can often help,” Ms Renaudin suggested.
