Another story that sticks out for me is that of the mighty Mossman Sharks. To win 16 straight games during the CDRL is a remarkable achievement and cannot be understated.

I was impressed all season with the effort and professionalism of former coach Joel Marama.

I felt a personal sense of heartbreak for the Sharks when they narrowly went down to Brothers in the grand final.

The Sharks had every right to be disappointed with the result but have held their heads high and instead looked towards going one better next season.

I can’t finish this piece without mentioning Brad Cooper. For the past five years or so I’ve called Brad win, loss or draw to talk about his beloved Port Douglas Crocs.

What a career this man has had. To lead a club for a decade takes a special level of dedication, passion, and belief and Cooper has those qualities in spades.

Congrats on a brilliant ten years at the helm Brad.

Thank you!
