With the school holidays finally here, it’s time to look back on the school year that has been and for the students to enjoy their well deserved break.

Final goodbye for Year 6 students

On Friday 2 December St Augustine’s Primary School in Mossman farewelled their Year 6 class of 2022.

Mrs Richelle Woods said: “Congratulations to you all and best wishes for the next chapter in your lives”.

A fun last week at Mossman State High School

It was a fun last school week for the Year 7, 8 and 9 students at Mossman State High School.

With a colour run, barbeque lunch, board games and a movie the kids had a blast.

Each faculty at the school was responsible for organising a day of activities.

On Tuesday students rotated between Lego, arts and crafts, trivia, Just Dance and karaoke, Kahoot and IT time.

On Wednesday the school’s Club 95 members and SWD students went to the pool for obstacle course fun.

Students remaining at school participated in art activities and sports in the ISC.

Thursday’s students rotated between multisport, Kahoot, Escape Room and juggling and board games.

On the final day of school students participated in a colour run to start the day.

Staff took great delight in plastering students with coloured dye and then taking to them with the hose.

Students were then treated to a sausage sizzle barbeque for lunch and spent the last two sessions playing trivia and board games and watching a movie.

New principal Wonga Beach State School

Wonga Beach State School will be starting the 2023 school year with a new Principal.

Emma Tait - or Miss Tait for the students - will be taking over the reigns in the new school year.

Ms Tait said that her goal as the new Principal will be to create a supportive yet stimulating learning environment in which the students will thrive academically and socially.

“I want to be actively engaged in your child’s life and find out what you want from your school community.”

School holiday football clinic Mossman State School

No boredom blues these school holidays with this fun activity.

Girls and boys between the ages of 6 and 16 can join Australia’s longest-running and most successful Indigenous football initiative.

John Moriarty Football (JMF) is an Indigenous football program enabling families and communities to unlock their children’s potential through locally-led initiatives.

Children can join Andre and the JMF team at the Mossman State High School Indoor Sports Centre on 12 and 13 January from 10.00am to 2.00pm.
