Locals of the Douglas Shire are in for a treat after the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Port Douglas announced the reopening of its buffet breakfast to the public.

Residents and visitors alike can start their day in the best possible fashion by loading up on morning goodies at the all-you-can-eat breakfast at Feast restaurant by the lagoon pool.

New Executive Chef, Belinda Tuckwell, recently returned to Australia after 11 years in Asia and is keen to put her own stamp on the Mirage, pushing to reopen the buffet as one of her first points of business.

“We’re very excited to be in a position to reopen our brekky to the public due to the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions on buffets,” Tuckwell said.

Tuckwell confirmed that the extravagant buffet will have all the features that people have come to know and love and that it will continue to draw on the best and freshest produce from Far North Queensland and beyond, prepared and cooked to perfection by the Sheraton Grand Mirage kitchen team.

"We have some amazing exotic fruits that grow right here in FNQ and people can expect the freshest seasonal fruit every day as well as all the traditional favourites like our egg station, crispy fried bacon and various Asian-infused delicacies.

Assistant food and beverage manager, Peter Elakis, is very excited to have someone of Belinda’s ilk heading up the kitchen team.

“Belinda has an amazing pedigree that includes the Sydney Opera House and some of the finest dining experiences in Asia. She’s amazing and we’re very lucky to have her,” Elakis said.

To celebrate the reopening, Sheraton Grand Mirage will be offering a discounted rate for locals to entice them to come back and sample for themselves what Elakis says is the best brekky in town!

“Come down, grab a plate of healthy fruit and granola before loading up on the traditional favourites and then finish with a barista coffee. There’s no better way to start the day,” he said.
