Escapade Liveaboard Charters with a 25.5kg Cobia caught at Escape Reef. Picture: Fishing Port Douglas

Over the past week we've had several of our vessels fishing different areas of our wonderful region.

Further north, our liveaboard charter fished from Cairns Reef on the west out to Escape Reef on the east on the Great Barrier Reef.

A variety of fish were encountered including Coral Trout, Nannygai, Giant Trevally, Spanish Mackerel and a whopping Cobia at 60lb.

Our local sportfishing boats whilst the winds remained calm, fished our local outer reef systems accounting for some handsome Coral Trout, big large mouth Nannygai and massive Cod.

The tide movement is quite favourable at the moment and any good weather should be taken advantage of at this time of year.

Closer to home our guide up on the Daintree continues to tap into a brilliant run of Barramundi.

Casting four inch soft plastics hard into the mangrove edges or trolling six inch hard body lures along the banks have had great effect.

Soaking a live sardine in amongst the timber is always dynamite as well. The turn of the tides are prime time to be hitting your favourite snags.

We have a bit of adverse weather around at the moment but there's still that window of opportunity for a few weeks where all forms of fishing will fire on all cylinders.
