After twenty years of serving the community, the Eye Boutique in Port Douglas closed its doors for the last time on Saturday, April 20th. Owner Kerry Carlon made the decision to semi-retire, marking the end of an era for the beloved establishment.

With a mix of nostalgia and excitement for new adventures, Ms Carlon made the decision not to renew the lease for another five years.

Reflecting on her journey, she expressed gratitude for the support of her loyal customers, many of whom she considers friends.

“It's time for me to step back and do other things I want to do,” she explained. “I have thoroughly enjoyed it, and it's been really good, but everything comes to an end at some point, nothing lasts forever.”

While the decision marks the end of an era for the boutique in Port Douglas, Ms Carlon reassured patrons that her other shop in Cairns Central Shopping Centre will remain open.

Despite the anticipation of having more time on her hands, she acknowledged that she would miss the familiar faces of her customers, especially those who have been visiting from interstate for years.

"They are like friends; I’ve seen their kids grow up,” she said. “I’d like to say thank you to everyone for their loyal support. I wouldn't be there without them.”
