Tropical Dingoes or wild dogs? in any case there have been two major sightings of these curious and lovely creatures right in the heart of Port Douglas over the past few days.

Armen Bacalso-Martinelli captured some images of what appears to be a wild dog/ dingo literally walking around Mowbray Street just days ago.

A short time later Michael Joseph said he witnessed a dingo or wild dog leaving a park by the Port Douglas community hall around 6am.

Newsport previously reported on more sightings that took place around the Douglas Shire over a month ago.

One reader said she saw one near junction bridge, while a resident said they had spotted one at Miallo.

Local dingo expert Luke Cooper said dingoes are typically shy creatures and not aggressive like most people think.

He reaffirmed common sense should be applied, reiterating they are a wild animal and should be admired at a distance but not approached.
