Dear Editor,

I write to you about the ongoing water issues in the Douglas Shire.

Just so the Minister is up to speed with the lay of the land, there are a number of access ways to lay a pipeline without carving up the rainforest.

There is an old train track that runs from the dam to Julatten and from there could follow existing roads through to Craiglie or Mossman, this is only one of many routes available.

I am quite happy to map these out and forward to the Minister for his approval.

The water security crisis is real and is now for the Douglas Shire and the Queensland Government to keep their word with regards to all regional Shires having a secure water supply for the future.

We are the jewel in the crown of Far North Queensland and the biggest tourist destination north of Brisbane.

The time for political side stepping is over, it’s time to do something real with what is sitting in our own back yard - Quaid's Dam.

We are tired of throwing millions of tax payers dollars at the broken down third  world country extraction site out of a creek in the hills.

We have water restrictions every year because it cannot sustain a constant water supply for a growing economy and for the best tourist destination in paradise.

The pipeline will save our businesses and secure a future for the Douglas Shire forever.

Kind regards,

Bryce Tozer
