A man has just arrived at Cairns Hospital and remains in a stable condition after a single motorcycle accident a short time ago on the Captain Cook Highway.

At about 2.40pm the motorbike rider lost control, before he fell onto the road and suffered injuries to his left arm.

A QAS spokesperson told Newsport two ambulance units attended the accident site which was about five minutes north of the Rex Lookout point.

Police spent time at the scene collecting a number of pieces of debris from the motorbike.

The cause of the accident is currently unknown.
