A Concerned local resident has questioned whether everything is being done to deter people and more specifically teenagers from loitering on and accessing Flagstaff Hill lighthouse.

The question comes after a reader claims they witnessed a disturbing scene take place at the location in more recent times.

“We recently seen two kids climb the lighthouse and fall off, one seriously hurting themselves with (a) broken arm, the other with (a) head injury.

“We have previously reported to Council about accidents occurring on the light house at night time.

“It's only a matter of time before some is killed up there and council don't seem to care about it.”

In response, Council suggested an existing safety prevention measure remains in place in the vicinity to discourage trespassing.

“There is a fence around the lighthouse preventing people from accessing the area,” Council told Newsport.

“A search of our records showed no reports of injuries have been received by Council.”
