FINANCE OFFICER/ACCOUNTANT

Marano’s Fuel has an exciting opportunity for a motivated, experienced and skilled individual to join our team at Head Office Miallo. The successful applicant will report directly to the CEO.

The role entails working closely with the accounts team, retail site supervisors and the Management team.

About the Role:
Lead end of month and year end financial processes, preparing monthly accruals, reconciling general ledger accounts, generating recurring documents and preparing reports to ensure compliance with policies, standards and legislation.
Monitor and review clearing accounts, corporate credit card transactions, bank reconciliations, payroll, superannuation, balance sheet and profit and loss, ATMs, FIFO costs on fuel pricing, stock alignment between internal systems, Gift Card reconciliations, WET stock balancing and product revaluations.
Contribute to the development/improvement of financial policies, ensuring alignment with current legislation and accounting standards.
Provide advice and support to accounts payable and receivable departments, filling in for annual leave
Maintain the integrity of the general ledgers, prepare journals to the general ledger, new loans and asset set up, month end reports, including balance sheets, trial balance and profit and loss.
Coordinate preparation of BAS/IAS, payroll tax, Workcover, FTC, PAYG reconciliation
Organise EOFY system roll overs, assist external accountant with EOFY preparation and enter accountants balancing journals.
Assist with payroll and cover for holidays.

Skills & Experience:
Experience in bookkeeping/accounts administration role (2+ years), relevant qualifications. Min Cert IV in accounts administration.
Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles, accounting software and financial reporting.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy with numbers.
Proficiency in using accounting software and excel, balancing accounts and reconciling ledgers.
Ability to handle sensitive information with high level of confidence.
Excellent problem-solving skills, experience with improvement of business processes.
Working knowledge of GST including BAS preparation and lodgment.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision but also able to work in a team environment.
