Wujal Wujal man arrested after disturbance in Cairns CBD

A 58-year-old Wujal Wujal man has been charged with obstructing police, contravening a police order and causing a public nuisance after an incident outside a Cairns shopping centre yesterday.

The man allegedly abused several members of the public attempting to enter what was believed to be Cairns Central Shopping Centre on McLeod Street at about 11.30am on Monday, April 28.

Police say, when they arrived, the man verbally abused officers and failed to move on after being told to do so.

He was then arrested and taken into police custody.

The man is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on Tuesday, May 13.
