State development fund up for grabs to help kickstart home builds
Government grants

Regional councils and developers can this month apply for a share of $1 billion in State Government grants to help kickstart the building of more houses.
The first stage of the four-year Residential Activation Fund has been set aside to build more roads, water, and sewerage to pave the way for more homes to be constructed.
Applications will open this month as part of the Government’s Securing Our Housing Foundations Plan, with a self-confessed “ambitious target” to deliver one million more Queensland homes in two decades - half of which are planned for regional areas such as Douglas Shire.
Premier David Crisafulli said the fund would fast-track the essential framework to activate housing developments across the state.
"Achieving our goal for one million new homes means having generational infrastructure to support our growing communities," Premier Crisafulli said.
"This vital funding will unlock new housing supply and support homes for our police, nurses, teachers and doctors.
“It’s only fair the regions get their fair share, which is why I’m proud to be investing at least $1 billion into regional Queensland.
“We must plan for our growing state and that means securing our housing foundations.”
Councils and developers with projects ready to go can now start preparing their applications.
Guidelines and eligibility criteria are available at statedevelopment.qld.gov.au/housing-infrastructure-investment-fund.
