Athletes headed for the home of Judo
Coral Coast Judo Club

A group of talented young Far North Queensland judo players are preparing for the trip-of-a-lifetime to the birthplace of the sport.
Half a dozen Coral Coast Judo Club athletes will be jetting off to Japan in April to “undergo intensive training, learn new techniques and improve their overall competition performance”, club president Jeff Anderson says.
The club has produced a host of state, national and international-level judo players in past years, and is looking forward to building on that during a packed program this year.
“This trip, which is part of the club's preparation for the upcoming National Judo Championships in June, offers a unique opportunity for athletes to refine their skills, gain valuable experience, and make long-lasting friendships from Japan,” Anderson says.
“It's an exciting time for our club, whose athletes have already made a name for themselves in numerous competitions.
“This upcoming training trip to Japan is yet another step toward their goal of continuing that legacy of excellence,” he says.
Coach Andy Schmidt will accompany athletes Max Schmidt, Lilli Schmidt, Harry Schmidt, Julie Anderson, Rikki Anderson and Mitchell Carbis on the trip.
The club is also hosting the upcoming Coral Coast Open regional championships on the weekend of March 15/16, which also doubles as a North Queensland State Team Training Camp.
The Queensland State Titles will also be held on Saturday, April 26, and Sunday, April 27, in Brisbane.
