BREAKING: Ol mate fisherman "missing"
COOK HIGHWAY FISHERMAN STATUE

Newsport has this morning received reports that the captivating fisherman statue on Captain Cook Highway south of Wangetti has gone missing overnight on Wednesday.
The creation has captivated Douglas Shire residents and travellers, with hundreds posting comments on Newsport’s story on the work and overwhelmingly calling for him to stay as a permanent fixture.
But news in this morning from Newsport Facebook contributor Makka Mc suggests the fisherman is missing.
“Looks like he was stolen on Wednesday night. It didn’t take long for the lowlifes to act,'' Maka wrote.
Newsport was on scene with the fisherman early on Wednesday afternoon to capture an exclusive interview and can report that he was still in place on his rock around 6pm on Wednesday.
