The two main roads into Douglas Shire are both open, but the Queensland Transport and Main Roads Department are advising drivers to continue to proceed with care.

The Captain Cook Highway is “open with caution” from Oak Beach to Buchans Point, with all lanes affected in both directions and delays expected.

There are single lane closures in multiple locations and speed reductions in place, according to this morning’s update.

Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures contacted Newsport this morning to say they are open today, with the park fully accessible.

The Mossman/Mount Molloy Road is open to traffic.

Supermarket supplies update

Woolworths has imposed a “two-pack purchase limit on a small number of products in our stores from Mackay northwards”, according to a statement released yesterday.

The limits include toilet paper, rice, bread, noodles, deli products and poultry products.

“We are working with local suppliers across milk, fruit, veg and meat to coordinate deliveries direct to our stores where possible,” the statement reads.

Yorkie’s Knob road closed

The road into Yorkey’s Knob is closed after heavy rains across Cairns yesterday.

The Palm Cove road has reopened, but drivers should continue to proceed with care there.

The Captain Cook Highway in multiple locations at Bonnie Doon, Killaloe and Mowbray is experiencing delays due to roadworks involving gravel road repairs.

Northwestern weather warning downgraded

A warning of severe thunderstorms issued this morning for the northwestern goldfields region has been cancelled.

However, isolated heavy falls in the northwest interior have been continuing this morning.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours.

Locations which may be affected include Richmond, Gregory Springs and Cloney's Creek.

160mm was recorded at Mundjuro in the six hours to 6am.
