Mossman Gorge trail reopens following bridge repairs
TRAIL REOPENS
Visitors can once again explore the full Rainforest Circuit Track at Mossman Gorge after the completion of repairs to the Rex Creek suspension bridge.
The popular walking trail, which was partially closed in December due to vandalism, has now reopened, allowing locals and tourists.
A spokesperson for Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia, operators of the Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre, expressed their gratitude for the restoration efforts, stating:
"We’re incredibly grateful to the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation for their efforts to repair the Rex Creek suspension bridge, and for the patience and understanding of visitors to Mossman Gorge who may have been impacted by the temporary partial closure.
“We’re thrilled that all trails have reopened to the public to explore once again and encourage travellers and locals alike to visit."
They also emphasised the importance of respecting the environment, acknowledging the cultural significance of the area to the Kuku Yalanji people.
“There is a deep cultural connection between this ancient land and Kuku Yalanji – it’s important that we all play our part in caring for Country by following all signage and staying on marked paths.”
Please note that trail conditions can change due to weather, such as heavy rainfall. Check Queensland Park Alerts before your visit: https://parks.desi.qld.gov.au/park-alerts.
