One of Port Douglas’s most iconic homes is up for sale - if you have more than a cool $6m lying around to buy it.

Perched on Flagstaff Hill overlooking Four Mile Beach, the town centre and the marina, The Glasshouse, complete with glass frontage, chandeliers and an immaculate pool, sits on  about 1900sq m of mainly rainforest.

Agent Barbara Wolveridge, of Sotheby’s International Realty, said the price - which was listed as “offers over $6m” - was attractive for investors.

“At that price you could not do better,” she said.

“It is a 10 and a half million dollar property.”

She said she has had several inquiries, but was waiting for a serious investor to “look at this and buy it”.

“I’ve had several offers but none that have been accepted.”

The property last sold for $6.125m in May, 2021.

The record price for a home in Port Douglas is believed to be $8.25m fetched in December, 2020, for millionaire businessman and tourism identity John Morris’s former Wharf Street property.

The three-level Glasshouse property includes a range of unique features.

“This glamorous haven offers Instagram-worthy views that stretch across Four Mile Beach, the majestic mountain ranges, and the serene Dickson Inlet, where you can watch super yachts gracefully cruise by,” according to the sale advertisement.

“By day, The Glasshouse is a haven of coolness, with sun-drenched interiors and a poolside retreat that beckons relaxation. As evening descends, this remarkable residence transforms into a sophisticated oasis, reminiscent of a softly illuminated rainforest.”
