About 13,800 graduating year-12 students and adult entrants have been offered university placements in the last of the large tertiary study round releases for the start of the 2025 study year.

The latest uni offers announced yesterday (Thursday, January 16) bring the year-to-date total to more than 47,100 places to study tertiary courses in Queensland in 2025.

More than 16,000 offers were made in the December round, and about 17,500 were sent out from August to December.

The total number of offers represents an 8.8 per cent increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre.

QTAC interim chief executive Chris Veraa said on Thursday the latest round has built on the successes of the previous intakes.

“The December offer round set a new benchmark, with record engagement from applicants across Queensland,” he said.

“The momentum continues today, as thousands more applicants take the next step towards their future.”

The latest offers were made across more than 1300 courses from 17 of Queensland’s leading institutions.

Of these, about 8500 offers were made to Year-12 graduates, while about 5300 were issued to adult applicants.

Health was the most sought-after field, with about 5800 offers, while Engineering and Arts also featured prominently.

The top-five courses were Psychology at The University of Queensland (265), Nursing at UQ (249), Arts at UQ (212), Engineering at UQ (212) and Medicine at James Cook University (182).

The top five fields of education offered were Health (5838), Society and Culture (2115),  Natural and Physical Sciences (1787), Management and Commerce (1333) and Engineering (910).

Health, which includes areas such as dental, nursing, sports science and medical science, also topped the list in last year’s intake.
