Prue Needham from Tahitian Lime expressed her excitement about the event, highlighting its role in bringing people together.
“We wanted to participate because it's a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together,” she said.
“Being such a close-knit town, it's great to have a night where locals and visitors alike can enjoy, shop, and relax. It’s something a little different and fun.”
She emphasised how events like these highlight the unique charm of Port Douglas. “It’s not something you typically see in a big city, and we’re so lucky to have such a great community.”
Michelle Scott, Manager at Tommy Bahama’s, echoed the enthusiasm.
“We just thought it’d be a bit of fun for the team, the locals, and just to be part of it,” she said. “We didn’t want to miss out!
“It’s all about bringing people together, supporting local business, and creating something fun for everyone.”
Adding to the festive spirit, Tommy Bahama’s will treat shoppers to champagne, Christmas music, and complimentary gift wrapping. They’re also offering a special promotion: spend $250 and receive a $50 voucher to use next month.
At Evert’s Fine Jewellery, Kim Wegner highlighted the importance of businesses coming together for such an event.
“There are a lot of people still out and about after dinner, and we cater to both locals and tourists, so it just seemed like a great idea. It’s much more inviting when everyone gets involved, it creates a better experience for everyone.”
The Christmas Late Night Shopping event is set for Thursday, November 28, with stores staying open until 7.30pm.
