After six frustrating months Douglas Shire bank goers may be inching closer to again being able to do their banking in Mossman.

Literally just days after Newsport started a campaign to push Bendigo Bank to speed up and get the process moving along we understand two of the bank's representatives will visit Mossman as early as tomorrow to scout suitable locations, or to look at updating their current site ahead of a future re-opening of a branch in the Mill town.

Local residents and business owners have been forced to make the trip across to Port Douglas since the ongoing closure of the bank’s Front St branch last December following Jasper and the Mossman Flood.

Newsport understands Bendigo Bank was close to re-opening a Mossman branch in April but heavy wet season rain impacted those plans.

In a bid to get things moving Newsport emailed off several questions to Bendigo Bank’s Adelaide headquarters but those questions remain unanswered and unreturned.

Newsport also made several calls to several Bendigo Bank representatives pushing the cause for the bank to expedite the process and re-open a Bendigo bank in Mossman.
