Police have renewed their appeal in a bid to identify and locate a man thought responsible for a serious case of alleged animal cruelty in separate parts of Port Douglas on May 9.

Around 4.40pm that afternoon the man was observed bashing and hurting the defenceless dog which led to an outcry from Douglas Shire residents who took it upon themselves to launch an immediate car and foot search for the alleged offender.

Nearly three weeks later, Police have again urged Douglas Shire and Far North residents to come forward with any information that may assist the investigation.

There is speculation the man may have travelled North towards Cape York, but this claim remains substantiated. At this stage Police have not released a license plate or description of any vehicle he may be travelling in.

“If any member of the public has any information regarding this case, no matter how small, I really encourage them to contact Crimestoppers or their local Police station, “a QPS Police spokesperson told Newsport.
