Ghost boat washes ashore at Wonga Beach
MYSTERY
Intrigue surrounds the mysterious arrival of a small silver ghost boat that washed up late yesterday at Wonga Beach.
Under a cloudy sky a Newsport source did a double take before slowly making their way over to the boat which was half filled with water.
As of last night the boat was located between Wonga beach caravan park and Pinnacles caravan park.
“I saw it earlier today floating past Rocky Point boat ramp, with the wind conditions and swell that we had today it could have come from (the) Port Douglas marina, Newell beach or even (the) Cooya beach area.
“The rego number is just readable, it's IR2380.”

UPDATE 11.42PM 7/6
The mystery behind the Wonga Beach ghost boat looks to have been solved with a man coming forward to Newsport a short time ago to claim the possession.
The man said he had been looking for the boat for at least 48 hours after its anchor rope was cut by children in Yarrabah.
The man said he generally rows out to the bay to go fishing in it and he intends on picking it up at some point today.
